What makes zinc oxide active
Active zinc oxide has a much finer particle and far more surface area than standard zinc oxide. More of the zinc is available to the cure, so you need less of it.
- Less material per batch
- Most rubber compounds need roughly half the dose of conventional zinc oxide.
- A faster, more even cure
- It reacts sooner with accelerators and stearic acid, which shortens cure times and evens out the crosslink.
- Less zinc left behind
- A lower dose means less zinc in finished goods and in process waste.
